MARILYN DONDERO LOOP ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR SENATE DISTRICT 8 AND RECEIVES ENDORSEMENT FROM THE SENATE DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS

 

LAS VEGAS – Today, former Assemblywoman Marilyn Dondero Loop announced her candidacy for State Senate District 8.  She has received the endorsement of the Nevada Senate Democratic Caucus.

 

“I am running for State Senate because I want to continue the work I began in the Assembly, like fighting to make our public schools better and working to bring good-paying jobs to Nevada,” said Dondero Loop.  “I’m proud to be a lifelong Nevadan. I care about my community, and I am committed to making sure the citizens of our state have every opportunity to succeed.”

 

 

“As a mother, grandmother, and a career educator, Marilyn has proven time and again that she is devoted to improving Nevada’s public education system and giving our kids the tools they need to compete for the jobs of the future,” said Assistant Majority Leader and Caucus Campaign Chair Kelvin Atkinson.  “We are proud to endorse Marilyn for Senate District 8 and look forward to adding her experience and unique understanding of our state to our Caucus.”

 

Marilyn Dondero Loop served as Assemblywoman for District 5 from 2008 until 2014.  She was born and raised in Clark County and attended Las Vegas High School. Dondero Loop received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at UNLV and went on to receive her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UNLV. She is a former member of the Nevada Parent Teacher Association and the United Way of Southern Nevada’s Commitment to Education Council.

 

Marilyn lives in Summerlin. She has three daughters and five grandchildren.
