STATEMENT OF SENATOR FORD ON SENATE BILL 265 VETO

CARSON CITY - Today, Nevada Senate Majority Leader Aaron D. Ford responded to Governor Brian Sandoval’s decision to veto Senate Bill 265. This landmark pharmaceutical transparency bill was supported by a broad coalition of employee organizations and employers, including much of Nevada’s gaming industry.

“With this veto, the Governor put the interests of major pharmaceutical companies ahead of one million Nevadans who are diabetic or pre-diabetic. Insulin is a life-saving drug that too many Nevadans simply can’t afford because of outrageous and inexplicable price hikes,” said Senate Majority Leader Aaron Ford. “Senate Bill 265 had significant bipartisan support because it would have finally lifted the shroud and shined some light on the skyrocketing costs of insulin. Tonight, one million Nevadans and their families have a reason to be disappointed in their state government.”
