Most often you will find Mark working in one way or another with or for his constituents, especially our seniors and children. He is always lending a hand at schools and senior centers in our district. Mark works tirelessly for his people --- year around -- holidays included!
Mark graduated from the Area Trade Technical Center where he earned a College scholarship. Mark attended UNLV and Clark County Community College (now CSN) receiving two degrees in 1989 and 1990.
Mark became involved in District 18 issues in 1990, when he worked for the district representative's campaign. When Mark's predecessor ran for his next term, he managed that campaign. Then, in 1994, when his predecessor expressed an interest in retiring from the Assembly, Mark threw his hat into the ring. He has served the residents of District 18 for the past 15 years, "8 elected terms."
"It has been an honor to have served the residents of my district for these past years." Throughout the years, Mark has received numerous awards and recognition for his contribution to many of the community organizations that he enjoys serving. You have probably met Mark right where you live, as he is committed to walking every neighborhood in his district. Mark's goals during this (and every) campaign are: (1) to reach out to his constituents to learn what issues concern them the most; (2) to educate and inform residents about the importance of participating in the voting process; and (3) to inform voters about the work that has been accomplished in their community and the need to do even more. Mark is passionate about encouraging new voters, and is rarely without a stack of voter registration forms! Not only is Mark currently a Nevada State Assemblyman, and running for State Senate District 7, but he also works for Collision Authority as Assistant Director for Client Services. When Mark is not working for his constituents or for Collision Authority, you will find him with his mom, Marie Manendo, who is not just his mom, but his partner in community involvement. So many constituents have said that when they elect Mark it is like a two for one because of how hands on his mom is in the community! Mark is very much family oriented and loves spending time with his longtime partner, Robin, who just went through a kidney transplant at UMC . “We are so blessed to be given this gift of life." Her recovery has been steady and successful and we want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during that difficult time.
Mark also has a beloved sister, Chris, and two nephews, Logan & Perry. Logan is 14 years old & Perry is 11, they are native Las Vegans and he is so proud of them especially for their accomplishments in school and with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. You might also find Mark watching a UNLV Basketball or Football game, and occasionally, you may find him enjoying a movie, or a play out at Spring Mountain Ranch. Mark loves our Desert Wetlands Park, the jewel of the southeast area where he, Robin and their dog Carson love to take walks. We also enjoy participating with "Strut Your Mutt" at the Dog Fancier's.
