Representing Senate District 1 in Clark County, Senator John Lee is an advocate for small business men and women, an avid outdoorsman and champion of protecting outdoor recreation, hunting and fishing. He served in the Nevada Assembly from 1997-2001 and was elected to the Nevada State Senate in 2004. In the 2009 Legislative Session, he served as the Assistant Majority Whip and the Chair of the Committee on Government Affairs.
 


Senator John Lee was born in 1955 on Ruislip Air Force Base in Middlesex, England. He attended Rancho High School in Las Vegas. Senator Lee is currently the President and owner of Vegas Plumbing Services, Inc., and Champion Tile and Marble Inc. Knowing his passion for the outdoors, it only makes sense that he also serves on the Executive Board for the Boy Scouts of America and acts as a Chair for the Clark County Regional Shooting Range.


Senator Lee has achieved many personal and professional accomplishments in Nevada. He is a Past Chair of the Regional Transportation Bus Shelter Committee. He is also a past member of the City of Las Vegas Parking and Traffic Commission and the City of Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Board.


Senator John Lee is married to Marilyn Ruesch Lee. They have seven children together: Crystaline Lueck, John Jason (Buck) Lee, Summer Alger, Blake Lee, Casey Lee, Lacey Lee, and Alana Lee.

Legislation To Watch

Requires the establishment of the Cancer Drug Donation Program

BILL STATUS: April 8, 2009- Passed in Senate (Yeas: 21, Nays: None). In Assembly Committee on Health and Human Services. May 16, 2009- Pursuant to Joint Standing Rule No. 14.3.3, no further action allowed

This bill requires the State Board of Pharmacy to establish the Cancer Drug Donation Program. The Program will distribute and dispense cancer drugs donated to the Program to cancer patients. It also authorizes persons to donate cancer drugs at any pharmacy, medical facility, health clinic or provider of health care that participates in the Program. The donated drugs must be in the original, unopened and sealed packages and must not be adulterated or misbranded. Part of the bill provides immunity from civil liability for damages caused by any act or omission of a person who donates a cancer drug to the Program, or who accepts, distributes or dispenses a cancer drug donated to the Program.
