Joyce Woodhouse Campaign Kick-Off! PDF Print E-mail
Senator Joyce Woodhouse
October 7, 2009

145.jpgThis past Saturday, October 3, I was joined by neighbors and friends for my Campaign Kick-Off at Silver Springs Park in Henderson.  Together, we knocked on hundreds of doors in my district to learn what matters most to the residents of Senate District 5.  With the enthusiasm and support of these wonderful volunteers, I will return to Carson City to continue to fight for Nevada's families.

We spoke to hundreds of neighbors, and not surprisingly, we heard time and time again their concerns about the economy, their job security, and whether or not they will be able to continue providing for their loved ones.  As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, I understand their concern.  Last session, I heard first-hand the testimony of those Nevadans affected most by this economic crisis.  Nevada is facing an uphill battle to get our economy back on track, but I am confident that despite our many obstacles, we can overcome this battle and thrive once again. If you are interested in learning more about the finance decisions we are making for the state, I encourage you to attend the next legislative Interim Finance Committee meeting.  You can attend in person, or watch online to see how the state is navigating these difficult times and to make sure your concerns are being heard. Click here to see a list of upcoming Legislative meetings.

Neighbors told us they were concerned about their children and their grandchildren's education.  This is a concern I understand520.jpg intimately.  I spent 40 years of my life working to ensure Nevada's children received the education they deserve.  As a teacher, principal, and program administrator, I have spent my life making sure every Nevada child has an opportunity to succeed. As your State Senator, I have also spent the past three years fighting to improve our schools so our children have a productive and safe environment in which to learn. As long as there are children in need, I will be fighting for them.

Although we had the opportunity to speak with so many, I know there are so many more stories and concerns to hear and questions to answer.  I want to hear from you. I encourage you to go online to my website, www.senatorjoycewoodhouse.com, and take 5 minutes to complete my constituent survey. I want to know what you think I should be focusing on as your State Senator.

I also want to thank all the wonderful volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to help me knock on doors. It is only though their energy, enthusiasm, and dedication that I can return to Carson City. We will be following up with even more constituents next Monday, October 12, by holding a call center. If you would like to join us, or find out more information, click here. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

All my best,

Joyce Woodhouse
Senate District 5
